What you will be doing:
Immigration Filing Assistance:
- Prepare and file immigration applications, forms, and supporting documents.
- Track application status and follow up with relevant authorities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of immigration laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Assist clients with understanding immigration processes and requirements.
- Coordinate with clients to gather necessary information and documents for immigration filings.
Administrative Support:
- Assist lawyers with the preparation and formatting of legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, and contracts.
- Schedule and coordinate appointments, meetings, and court appearances.
- Manage phone calls, emails, and correspondence, directing them appropriately.
- Maintain and organize physical and electronic legal files, ensuring all documents are up-to-date and filed correctly.
Legal Research and Documentation:
- Conduct legal research using various resources such as legal databases, libraries, and online sources.
- Summarize and report findings to the legal team.
- Assist in the preparation of case files and trial materials.
Client Interaction:
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing information and updates as authorized.
- Handle client inquiries and assist with intake processes.
Document Management:
- Draft, review, and edit legal documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure all documents comply with legal procedures and deadlines.
Office Management:
- Order and maintain office supplies and manage inventory.
- Coordinate with external vendors and service providers as needed.
Compliance and Confidentiality:
- Adhere to all legal standards and confidentiality requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant laws and regulations.
Your Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or similar role
- Knowledge of legal terminology, regulations, and court system procedures
- Strong clerical and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Familiarity with legal drafting and document preparation
- Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies or related field preferred
