About Metacare Clinic: Metacare Clinic is a dedicated healthcare provider team that focuses on the assessment and management of patients with obesity and metabolic syndrome in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. Our clinic uses evidence-based therapies for obesity management, including lifestyle modification, mindset training, pharmacotherapy, and pre- and post-bariatric surgery care. . We also assess patients with metabolic syndrome and help manage their comorbidities with the goal of optimizing their cardiovascular risk . We provide care in hybrid model with both virtual and in person assessments.
Role of Metabolic & Obesity Program Assistant (MPA): As an MPA at Metacare Clinic, you will be part of a healthcare team that has a passion and expertise for treating obesity and metabolic syndrome. The treating team includes dietitians, health coaches, and internal medicine physicians with expertise in obesity management, hypertension, venous thromboembolic disease, and other cardiometabolic comorbidities. The role of MPAs is to help patients navigate through their treatment program in a supportive and efficient manner and provide support to physicians in patient assessment.
Job Description: The MPA's key responsibilities include:
Program Intake and Patient Care
- Completing patient intake forms with a comprehensive medical history focusing on weight and nutrition history, as well as medical comorbidities and medications
- Completing and transcribing the medical history template in collaboration with the attending physician
- Assist physicians reviews by filling out lab and imaging requisitions, generating orders, referral requests
- Writing and submitting consultation and referral letters using clinic EMR
- Update patient chart in EMR with patient letters, measurements, clinically relevant survey and medical scores.
- Responsible for enrolling patients in Metacare obesity program groups and providing program navigation in follow up assessments
Job Requirements:
Education:
One of the following is required:
- International Medical Graduates (IMG)
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in a health-related field
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Personal Skills and Attributes:
- Prior knowledge and experience in obesity and metabolic syndrome and nutrition is an asset
- Experience working with patients or prior clinical experience is an asset
- Strong English proficiency and good written and oral communication skills
- Strong ability to work with computers and office and video conferencing software such as Zoom, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as good typing skills
- Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team in a respectful and cooperative manner
- Prior experience in medical chart preparation and prior experience with Accuro EMR is an asset
- Prior experience in motivational interviewing is an asset
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary range is $21-25/hour based on prior experience
Schedule:
Temporary Part time - (3-month coverage position)
- 3-4 days/week (primarily Mon-Thu)
- 8 hour shifts
- Flexible schedule aligned with physician clinic operations
- Hours may vary based on clinic needs and physician schedules
Work Location:
- Ability to commute daily to Metacare Clinic, which is located in Surrey, BC, across from Surrey Memorial Hospital.
