Job Description

The Loblaw Technology & Analytics (LT&A) team covers the data-focused spectrum from data governance and management through data engineering. We also cover the data analytics spectrum from ad-hoc database queries through to machine learning models. Why this role is important?

We are looking for an individual with strong analytical and computer programming skills to join our Enterprise Business & Customer Insights team to help us better understand customer behavior across both Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaw. This is an exciting opportunity to help drive insights across the enterprise working with the data from the largest Loyalty program in Canada.

Working with the Senior Manager, Business & Consumer Insights, the Analyst (COOP) will be pulling, analyzing and interpreting data from various sources to provide concrete insights to key business collaborators. The Analyst will support the delivery of objective, valuable analysis interpretation and recommendations to facilitate discussions and decisions related to PC Optimum initiatives. The role will allow the Analyst to gain insight and perspective across multiple Loblaw divisions while building highly in demand and transferable skills.

Help us analyze and optimize the biggest and strongest loyalty program in Canada, and one of the top loyalty programs globally.

What You'll Do:
Extract, review and prepare large amounts of data from multiple sources for analysis and reporting
Support detailed analysis (data sourcing, analysis, testing) to ensure reliability, credibility and viability of conclusions and recommendations
Develop concise and easy to understand strategic and customer insights from data analysis
Support Loblaw divisions and other key collaborators with ad-hoc analysis and use customer data to deliver important insights driving business strategy
Partner with collaborators to better understand/define business problems and help resolve best course of action for insight generation
Assist in preparation of presentation materials for senior management
Collaborate closely with data experts (internal & external) to build and extract appropriate and accurate data sets to support complex analysis
Build reports and tools which will help collaborators in driving important metrics, improving processes, and provide deeper understanding and connection to our business and customers

What You'll Need:
Be enrolled in 2nd or 3rd university, working toward a degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science
Ability to synthesize large amount of data into insights
Strong intuition for business
Curiosity and willingness to ask questions
Strong communicator skills and comfortable collaborating within cross-functional team
Excellent organization ability to stay on top of a multifaceted and fast paced business, while leading multiple assignments at a time
Strong teammate and self-starter
Strong attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and quality
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
Basic knowledge of SQL, Python, R is an asset
Experience in Retail an asset
