Martin's Family Fruit Farm is one of Canada’s largest apple growers, packers and processors. Martin’s operates a State-of-the-Art processing facility in Elmira, Ontario where we produce our famous Crispy Apple Chips, Apple Cider, fresh sliced apples for commercial bakeries and our newest production line, apple puree.
We are presently looking for full-time contract position for a Quality Control technician for our night shift. We desire motivated candidates who are looking for an opportunity to learn and grow with our company.
This is a 12-18-month full-time contract position - great opportunity!!
Night shift: Sunday to Thursday -11pm to 7am, shift premium $2.00/hr
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Quality Control Technician reports to the QC Manager and is responsible for carrying out QC tests and procedures as required for the Elmira Processing Plant.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform all apple chip quality testing as required
- Coordinate with the QC Manager and Production Supervisor to ensure that all tests are completed, approved and that they are accurately documented
- Perform walk-around visual inspections of apple chips being packed and, in consultation with the Supervisor, perform additional tests when appropriate
- Perform other quality testing as requested by the QC Manager and/or Production Supervisor
- Maintain an organized filing system of all test results
- As time permits, assist other team members working in the processing plant
- Maintains a clean and organized lab environment
- Other tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Must be able to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, calculating averages and percentages)
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment
- Good communication and computer skills
- Detail oriented and ability to troubleshoot
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Please note: Areas of the plant operate at temperatures below 10C to maintain apple freshness; the QC Technician will primarily be working in a lab setting at room temperature and will work in the cold areas for short periods of time.
Pay: $21.86 per hour
