About the Role:
For over 40 years, the Mansour Group and its divisions have grown and evolved to meet the diverse needs of its customers, as well as the needs of the Northern Ontario Mining and International Industrial sectors.
We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Health & Safety Coordinator to support both our HR and H&S functions. This internship opportunity is intended to be funded through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), pending approval. It is ideal for a recent graduate looking to gain experience in workplace safety and human resources within a dynamic industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with onboarding new employees, including safety orientation and training coordination
- Support the investigation and documentation of workplace incidents, injuries, and hazards
- Conduct or assist with regular safety inspections and audits at company worksites
- Develop and update safe work procedures, inspection checklists, and internal resources
- Maintain accurate records of training, certifications, incidents, and compliance metrics
- Coordinate and schedule internal and external health and safety training
- Track and update internal documentation tools (e.g., compliance matrices, training status reports)
- Draft internal safety bulletins, memos, policies, and job postings as required
- Assist in the planning and delivery of health and safety events and HR initiatives
- Provide regular updates to managers on assigned tasks and outstanding actions
- Maintain confidentiality and build working knowledge of applicable HR and safety legislation
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information professionally
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Comfortable handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Eligibility Information:
Funding for this position may be provided through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) under the Workforce Development Stream.
To qualify for NOHFC internship funding, applicants must:
- Be new entrants to the workforce, transitioning to a new career, or unemployed/underemployed and entering a new field
- Not have previously participated in a NOHFC-funded internship
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Reside in Canada and be legally entitled to work in Canada
