Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Journeyperson Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial electrical systems, providing quality operational repairs and preventative maintenance services to sawmill, planer and dry kiln electrical equipment. This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems within this environment, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards. The Journeyperson Electrician requires precise technical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This position offers an opportunity to apply your expertise in a dynamic environment with a focus on quality workmanship and safety.
Duties will include:
- Commitment to performing work safely;
- Maintaining and improving electrical, process control equipment and network systems. This includes repairing, installing, modifying electrical equipment and programs;
- Plan and perform work effectively by determining the scope of work, develop a safety plan, gather job related documentation, determine tools and equipment required, estimate time to complete work, coordinate and consult work with other work groups and the Maintenance Coordinator;
- Have the ability to work independently, with other electricians, other trades and personnel from other groups;
- Develop the ability to mentor new trades persons and apprentices;
- Complete preventative & predictive maintenance activities for both new and used equipment and technology; and follow all safety and regulatory requirements.
- Bring creative ideas and use knowledge and skills to recognize opportunities for improvements and savings
- Inspect, examine and troubleshoot equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
The Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Certified Electrician with Red Seal, a valid Interprovincial Journeyman ticket preferred;
- 3 - 5 years of sawmill industry experience preferred;
- Demonstrated strong commitment to safety;
- 3rd to 4th year apprentices considered, remuneration to will reflect level of skill (advertised amount is Journeyperson rate);
- A strong background in the use of Allen Bradley, PLC 5 & Control Logix to assist in troubleshooting;
- HMI and network experience;
- Solid understanding of process control and optimization;
- Knowledgeable with VFD drives’, soft start and network systems;
- Knowledge of high voltage switch gear
- Demonstrated strong team player with sound communications and interpersonal skills;
- Strong problem solving skills and willingness to be an integral part of continuous improvement
- Ability to work independently, and have a flexible shift schedule
- Organizational and planning skills as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, computer skills an asset
