Job Summary:
As a Carpenter, an ideal candidate will have refined knowledge and experience within the construction industry. You will be taking a senior role on site, helping guide more junior team members and delegating tasks. Clear and effective communication will be demonstrated in this role, with good time management and an advanced understanding of the trade.
The job will entail working in diverse settings, in various environments in order to produce steady and functional structures and products. You will have good knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials. All applicants must be able to abide by the strict on site health and safety rules at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct and assemble framing structures for buildings, such as walls, floors, roofs, and stairs using wood, metal, or other materials
- Read and interpret blueprints, architectural plans, and sketches to ensure proper specifications are followed
- Measure, cut, and shape materials like lumber, plywood, and drywall using hand and power tools
- Frame and install doorways, windows, and openings according to design plans
- Ensure all framing is level, square, and aligned for structural soundness
- Select materials based on project specifications, considering load-bearing requirements and environmental conditions
- Collaborate with other trades like electricians, plumbers, and drywallers to ensure coordinated construction
- Follow local building codes and safety regulations to ensure compliance with legal standards
- Perform repairs or maintenance on existing framing structures when necessary
- Maintain records of completed work and provide updates to supervisors or project managers
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Carpenter in residential or non-residential construction.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (lifting heavy loads of up to 90lbs)
- Red seal is desirable.
- A valid license and car to drive in B.C to transport own tools and equipment.
- Strong customer service and front-facing skills.
- Knowledge in all aspects of Carpentry.
- A good gut for heights, managing a crew and working on busy, high pressure job sites.
- Aptitude in math.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 1 week
Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
