Salary: $103,698 - 121,312

Work Schedule: 35 hours/week

Thank you for your interest in the Manager, Operations position with the York Region District School Board. In compliance with Board policies and procedures, is responsible for managing and coordinating the caretaking services, building support and site services for schools and facilities of the Board in compliance with Board policies and procedures.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
To review and monitor, in conjunction with the Assistant Managers, Operations, all caretaking operations and issues associated with the same.
To establish and maintain service standards and guidelines for caretaking operations.
To hire, supervise, conduct employee performance appraisals and to participate in the grievance and disciplinary process as required.
To liaise with service contractors, consultants, unions and staff of all levels to review and resolve operation needs and issues including conducting periodic site inspections to ensure compliance with Board custodial standards.
To work collaboratively with other departments in developing RFPs, RFIs, contracts, return to work programs, and compliance with health and safety legislation and regulations.
To monitor the annual caretaking budget, authorizing purchases and expenditures and ensuring that operation remains within approved budget guidelines.
To manage supplies and contracts and monitor the levels of performance of the same.
To attend and participate on various committees and sub-committees as required.
To perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
A three year university degree or college diploma in business administration, architectural, mechanical, electrical or civil engineering, building & environmental services or a related discipline is required or equivalent, as approved by the Board.
Minimum ten years progressive management dealing with both unionized and non-unionized staff in the caretaking and operation of commercial or educational buildings or related experience is required. Operational knowledge of small drinking water systems is preferred.
Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and computer skills are required.
Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both within and outside the Board is required.
Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and have access to own transportation.
