Bayer Crop Science is a leading provider of technology-based solutions and agricultural products that improve farm productivity. Our research facility in Guelph, Ontario, is seeking several innovative and team-oriented individuals to join their Research Team as Field Assistants for a 3 month term starting in late August/early September and ending in November with possibility of extension.

Selected individuals have the opportunity to assist the Soybean and Corn Research Program with the following:

  • Combine Operation
  • Operations related to field trials such note taking, combine and manual harvesting of soybean and corn research plots and nurseries
  • Computer related activities and provide support for testing activities
  • Threshing, seed quality, evaluation and seed cleaning
  • Seed preparation for winter nurseries
  • Some off site travel during harvest season may be possible
  • May operate farm equipment such as a tractor, combine or thresher
  • Participate in all Safety training and follow Safety policies
  • Participate in QMS training and assist team to maintain Quality Standards

This is a great opportunity to get some hands-on industry experience in both commercial soybean and corn research programs.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required
  • Ability to work effectively with teams or independently and to take daily direction from supervisors/managers
  • Ability to work outdoors in various environmental conditions
  • Activities will require bending and lifting, long periods of sitting or standing
  • Demonstrated ability to balance and prioritize tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
  • Experience utilizing MS Word and MS Excel

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Field Research experience
  • Knowledge in agriculture, understanding of farm equipment operation
