We are actively seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join our Thermal Engineering Services Team supporting our Cold Lake Thermal and Saskatchewan Thermal assets in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to the Engineering Services Lead, the successful candidate will identify operating and performance issues at Strathcona Thermal assets, evaluate causes, propose operating strategies and/or potential projects to solve the issues, and evaluate success of the interventions.
Essential Functions:
Provide technical support for day-to-day operations activities.
Work with operations to identify ongoing issues in the plant.
Use process data from PI system to analyze the current operation of plant and how to improve it.
Build dashboards and calculations to allow operations to optimize chemical use, set points, and chemical cleanings.
Develop test plans to trial proposed interventions and evaluate results.
Frame management of change (MOC) project opportunities to enhance operational performance.
Qualifications Include:
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in an engineering or related role in the Oil and Gas industry.
Registration with APEGA and/or APEGS as a professional engineer.
Familiarity with SAGD Steam Generation, Water Treatment, Oil Processing, Heat Integration, and Sulphur management processes.
Knowledge of Pi and Tableau data tools.
Knowledge of Hysys or Symmetry process modeling tools.
Experience with optimization in operating assets to improve production and reduce opex.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Goal-oriented and capable of meeting deadlines.
Works well with operations teams at a variety of remote assets.
Strong analytical skills.
