Position Type: Full-Time/Part-Time (Evening and Weekend Availability Required)
About Us
The Port Arthur Curling Centre is a member-based curling club with a welcoming, casual and community-focused environment. Our kitchen serves members, league curlers, bonspiels, tournaments, special events, and the public. We are looking for a reliable, organized, and motivated Cook who takes pride in preparing quality food, maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen, and providing an excellent dining experience for our guests.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, quality standards, and food safety guidelines.
- Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely manner during leagues, bonspiels, tournaments, rentals, and special events.
- Complete daily food preparation and ingredient prep.
- Assist with menu planning, daily specials, and food offerings for events and seasonal programming.
- Maintain consistent portion sizes and presentation standards.
- Minimize food waste while maintaining food quality.
Kitchen Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including workstations, equipment, dishes, and storage areas.
- Complete kitchen opening and closing duties.
- Properly store, label, rotate, and date food products using First In, First Out (FIFO) inventory practices.
- Receive, inspect, and properly store food deliveries.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report equipment maintenance concerns promptly.
Inventory & Ordering
- Monitor food and kitchen supply inventory.
- Communicate ordering needs to the Bar & Restaurant Manager or designated supervisor.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock organization as required.
Food Safety & Teamwork
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with bartenders, servers, volunteers, and management to provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain a professional, positive, and respectful work environment.
- Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Food Handler Certification (Required or willingness to obtain within the probationary period).
- Previous cooking experience in a restaurant, pub, banquet facility, catering operation, or commercial kitchen is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be available for evenings and weekends during the curling season.

- Frequent lifting, carrying, bending, and repetitive movements.
- Exposure to hot cooking equipment and commercial kitchen environments.
