The Catholic Centre for immigrants (CCI) has been serving refugees and immigrants for more than 65 years. CCI is a bridge between the 7,000 immigrants and refugees who come to Ottawa each year and the community. We provide programs and services to help newcomers settle and integrate. We also work in the community to promote the value of a diverse and more welcoming community for all.
Job Summary
Under the direction of Transitional Program Manager, the Janitor is responsible for cleaning in and outside the building, general housekeeping, maintenance and minor repairs.
This position reports to: Manager
Employment status: 12 Months contract with a possibility of extension

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Manager, the Janitor will:
- Clean and maintain designated spaces both inside and outside of the facility on a daily basis, which includes the lobby, restrooms, offices, conference rooms, parking lot and public areas.
- Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, polish, wash windows and empty trash on a daily basis, and on a weekly basis.
- Maintain inventory of stock in supply rooms and bathrooms as needed.
- Check for potential safety issues in all public areas on a daily basis and bring them to the attention of the office manager.
- Follows safety rules and precautions.
- Adheres to company policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment or snow removal equipment
- Skills to make minor repairs (drywall repair, paint restorations, etc.)
- Ability to work independently
- Understanding of health and safety regulations
- Ability to keep an organized record of cleaning supply inventory
- Ability to perform maintenance checks on the ventilation system
- Ability to work as part of a team
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Knowledge of the latest OSHA safety regulations
