The incumbent will lead and manage major project management and engineering for Lafarge Canada Cement and Geocycle businesses.
Health & Safety Leadership : Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas. Responsible for all safety aspects on projects. Promote LafargeHolcim’s safety culture.
Projects Management: Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with plant management. Project management of all contracts including attending site meetings, identifying and pricing work extra to the contract, coordinating and scheduling the project with the customer, invoicing, collections, and resolving any disputes involving the customer and any other third parties.
Engineering Design: Plans, develops, coordinate and reviews complex engineering work within the project. Coordinates and interfaces with the day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers. Manages technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, and regulators) to facilitate appropriate technical decisions, resolve project issues and propose solutions to help meet deadlines and monitor related job costs.
Financial Management: Monitor project costs and financial reports. Provide feedback to operations and estimating departments. Job set-up for all projects estimated and awarded by the incumbent including credit approval, bonding, insurance, schedules, pre-construction meetings, subcontract agreements, purchase orders, as well as internal job setup for operations and accounting. Arbitrate and coordinate the resource allocation for the execution of these projects in coordination with PM&E Management.
Subcontractors Management: Manage Subcontractors, outline expectations, scheduling information and track productions. Verify contract documents and blueprints for accuracy and project materials.
Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project’s scope, schedule and budget and manages implementation and performance accordingly.
Reviews significant bid summaries, major drawings and staffing estimates and schedules. Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.

Interacts with all levels of the Plants and Corporate Teams
Supervision of Project Teams as assigned
Interface at global level for the design, costing, execution and follow-up of medium/large-scale
Projects executed with zero harm to environment and people
Projects executed according to specification and code
Projects being delivered on time
Projects delivered on budget
Reports to VP Cement Manufacturing Canada
Direct reports and team members established based on project pipeline
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree in Engineering degree or Construction Management is desired
Master's/Graduate Degree is preferred
5 to 10 years of project management experience in heavy industrial environmental, preferably in the cement industry
Bilingual is a strong asset
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to drive and lead effective change
Ability to work with other functional areas with a good understanding of the different players and their priorities.
Solid capability to steer and guide large and diversified interdisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication skills, negotiation and interpersonal skills
Familiar with the industrial processes, engineering standards and equipment used in the cement industry or similar industries.
Knowledge in industrial equipment for applications in heavy industry.
Proven experience in industrial construction projects, costing, project control, contractual complaints management and mediation.
Knowledge and experience in construction and labor management.
Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
Extensive knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards
