Propower Mfg. in LaSalle is seeking a skilled Welder/Fitter to join our Metal Tanks team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding and fitting, with the ability to work with both steel and aluminum. The Welder/Fitter will layout, fit, and fabricate sheet metal components to assemble diesel fuel tanks and hydraulic reservoirs using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and given engineering requirements.
Duties
- Welding processes including (but not limited to) GMAW and GTAW (skill preferred but training available) in steel and aluminum
- Read and interpret shop drawings and weld symbols
- Gather, lay out and position the fabricated parts as per the shop drawings
- Weld components in any required position, follow proper weld procedures, use necessary workmanship to meet the quality requirements of the drawing specs
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
- Grind parts to achieve required fit, finish, and preparation for coating
- Operate overhead cranes, fork truck, and other machinery to move material when necessary
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area
- Adhere to and abide by all safety procedures and work in a safe manner
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
- Grade 12 education
- 1+ years of experience welding (MIG and TIG)
- Blueprint reading knowledge
- Technical welding courses would be an asset
- Experience using material handling equipment would be an asset (fork truck, crane, pallet jack, etc.)
- Must have excellent attendance habits!
- Supervisory experience would be an asset and could lead to future opportunites for advancement
