Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Assistant Coach specialized in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) for Kids to join our martial arts team. In this role, you will help lead our kids classes (Monday–Friday, 5:00–6:00pm), inspire young students, foster a love for martial arts, and help develop their skills in a safe, supportive environment. Your enthusiasm and commitment will motivate children to achieve their personal best while learning valuable self-defense techniques and life skills. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their coaching journey to gain hands-on experience and make a positive impact on kids' lives through martial arts. This is a paid position.
Schedule
- Kids classes currently run Monday-Friday, 5:00-6:00pm with a new additional timeslot opening soon (Likely 4:00-4:45pm)
- Not every day is required, but availability at least 3 days per week is needed
Duties
- Assist lead instructors in delivering engaging BJJ classes tailored for children
- Support students in learning and practicing fundamental techniques, ensuring proper form and safety
- Foster a positive, encouraging atmosphere that motivates kids to participate actively and build confidence
- Help supervise class activities, ensuring all children are engaged and adhering to safety guidelines
- Contribute to lesson planning by providing input on drills, games, and skill-building exercises suitable for kids
- Maintain a clean, organized training area and ensure all equipment is used correctly and safely
- Support the development of students' discipline, respect, and teamwork through effective coaching and mentorship
Skills
- Preferred but not required: Blue belt or higher.
- Minimal coaching experience required - we're happy to help you grow into the role
- Comfortable demonstrating fundamental BJJ techniques for kids
- Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with and motivate young learners
- Energetic, engaging teaching presence
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for working with children
