Trail Tire in Tofield is looking for a Journeyman Mechanic to join our team.
Job Summary:
The Journeyman Mechanic is a skilled professional responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles, equipment, and machinery. The role requires technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and apprentices. The journeyman ensures all work meets safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and company policies while providing guidance to less experienced team members.
Client Communication and Professionalism:
- Communicate with clients, customers, and associates in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
- Clearly explain findings, recommended repairs, and repair options to Customer Service and clients, documenting all work performed and parts used.
- Precautions taken to ensure the protection of Customer Property
Diagnostics and Repairs:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools, test drives, and technical expertise.
- Repair or replace faulty or worn parts, including but not limited to brakes, belts, hoses, alternators, batteries, and suspension components.
- Work on a variety of makes and models, both domestic and import.
- Perform 30-point inspections and test drives to verify repairs and ensure proper operation.
Maintenance and Inspections:
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and other preventive measures.
- Conduct inspections to ensure vehicles adhere to manufacturer specifications, safety protocols, and workplace standards.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and quality control checks.
Operational and Administrative Duties:
- Follow correct work order and operations procedures consistently.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and ensure all tools and equipment are in good working condition.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, which may be updated from time to time.
- Assist with daily shop clean-up and maintenance of equipment.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Assist with supervision of apprentices and tire technicians, providing guidance and mentorship as needed.
- Attend training seminars and courses to maintain and improve technical skills.
- Collaborate with colleagues to troubleshoot complex issues and share knowledge.
Safety: Follow all safety guideline and operational procedures in accordance to safe work and operating procedures
Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily performed in a garage or workshop environment.
- Frequent exposure to vehicle fluids, dust, noise, and fumes.
- Regular physical activity, including lifting, bending, standing, and working in awkward positions.
- Use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment on a daily basis.
- Flexible schedule may be required to meet workshop operational demands, including evenings or weekends.
- Adherence to strict safety standards and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
- Support team operations and complete other tasks as assigned.
All Journeyman Mechanics are expected to maintain high standards of teamwork, demonstrate accountability through sound judgment, and consistently meet the performance expectations established within the shop environment.
