PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Develop and implement Sales & Marketing goals, strategies and plans supporting retention, growth and value of Canadian Pacific’s Domestic Intermodal portfolio and to ensure competitive price, product, services and other terms of sale programs are delivered to meet customer needs and Canadian Pacific’s financial targets.
Market Strategies - Lead the development of long-term Sales & Marketing strategies the define CP’s preferred product, price and volume position within the Domestic Intermodal industry;
Market Action Plans - Ensure Sales & Marketing programs are developed and implemented for price, services and other terms of sale to meet defined goals for volume and profitability within Domestic Intermodal market segment;
Trading Space - Direct the delivery of executable marketing programs to sales and incorporate key learnings from customer, industry stakeholder, competitor and regulator activities in protecting and enhancing CP’s market position;
Contract Renewals - Oversee the development of key commercial contract renewal strategies and define negotiating frameworks for price, product and terms of sale;
Opportunity Management - Oversee the development of bid, RFP and opportunity strategies to define CP’s preferred position from new customer opportunities, emerging markets and/or significant changes to industry structures;
Revenue Growth: Ensure the Opportunity Pipeline is deep, robust with quality revenue growth opportunities;
Forecasting & Resource Allocation - Sponsor the preparation of forecast plans and resource allocation efforts against price, volumes, revenues and yield targets;
Policy & Process - Champion efforts to improve processes, procedures, tools and policies that facilitate delivery of CP’s products and services;
Leadership & People Development - Coach individuals and teams within the Domestic Intermodal Sales & Marketing department and affiliated departments to enhance performance, personal development and communication;
Organizational Effectiveness - Develop work plans and align resources within departmental budgets and identify opportunities for value creation;
Validate, shape and assess performance against annual and multi-year revenue and market outlooks as key inputs to resource and budget planning.
Responsible for a team of 24 marketing and sales professionals with revenue accountability of $1.0 Billion.
University Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or Science required;
MBA or equivalent preferred;
Strong knowledge of various industry structures and business decision drivers;
10 years of railway experience, preferably experience in Domestic Intermodal sales and marketing at a senior level;
Trucking, 3PL, transportation logistics knowledge and experience required;
Knowledge and experience in transportation supply chain logistics;
Strong knowledge of commodity markets and key drivers;
Knowledge and experience in strategic market development;
Understanding of national and international/global trade business;
Policy and regulatory understanding of impact on all markets;
Strong financial acumen/financial analysis skills;
Knowledge of negotiating fundamentals;
Strong business and financial acumen;
Proven ability in building strong customer relationships;
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills;
Strong leader of people, ability to direct, coach, mentor and motivate a high performing, highly skilled, team of professionals;
Ability to communicate complex issues to all levels of the organization;
Ability to drive for results;
Strong decision-making skills.

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CP. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
This is a permanent, full-time position located at 1290 Central Parkway W, Mississauga, ON,L5C 4R3. The compensation for this position is competitive $175,000 - $260,000 CAD, consistent with industry and position norms, and commensurate with your experience.
