Position Summary:
Reporting to the Clinical Lead, the Registered Nurse ensures resident centered care is provided in an individualized meaningful way and includes family involvement. The main accountabilities of the position are managing day-to-day delivery of care to long term care residents, providing direct care for residents and providing leadership for care staff. The incumbent in the position fosters and maintains effective relationships with care staff, family physicians, professionals from other disciplines, residents and family members. The incumbent also acts as a role model and ambassador for the Mission and Values of the Foundation.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Current CPR Certificate
- Certificates in Infection Control and Prevention, Adult Education, Mental Health and Geriatric Nursing are desirable.
- Current and ongoing registration with CARNA
Experience:
- Experience in long term care or other relevant experience.
- Several years of nursing experience including supervision of care staff.
- Experience in care of the elderly and dementia care.
- Clinical experience in a health care environment.
Skills:
- Demonstrated clinical competence, organizational, interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
- Proven supervisory/leadership ability to facilitate team building, change, and resource management.
- Well developed analytical, judgment, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
