Job Overview
AVT Beckett Elevators is seeking a motivated and dependable Junior Welder / Fitter & Assembler to join our manufacturing team. This position is ideal for an individual with welding experience who is looking to further develop their fabrication skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is NOT an apprenticeship program.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, fitting, painting, tack welding, and performing production MIG welding on a variety of elevator components. Working closely with experienced team members, you will play an important role in producing high-quality products while continuing to build your skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and fit metal components using technical drawings, work orders, and verbal instructions.
- Perform MIG welding on production parts and assemblies.
- Tack weld components in preparation for final welding.
- Paint and finish fabricated components to company quality standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols.
- Operate grinders, saws, drills, cutting equipment, and other fabrication tools.
- Prepare materials for welding, assembly, and finishing.
- Inspect completed welds and assemblies to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Assist with packaging and preparing completed products for shipment.
- Maintain welding equipment and report maintenance concerns.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Work effectively with supervisors and fellow team members to meet production schedules.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous MIG welding experience is required.
- Experience with fitting, fabrication, assembly, or manufacturing is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, grinders, and fabrication equipment.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic layout work.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality workmanship.
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and continue developing welding and fabrication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in a physically demanding manufacturing environment throughout the shift.
