What will you do?
As part of the Performance Controlling team, the Financial Analyst will support financial planning, forecasting, reporting, cost controlling, and business performance analysis. Reporting to the Performance Controller, this role will partner with Finance, Sales, Operations, and business leaders to deliver accurate reporting, actionable insights, and continuous improvements that support effective decision-making. This position is well suited for a finance professional with 3 to 5 years of experience who is analytical, collaborative, detail-oriented, and eager to build strong business partnering and digital finance capabilities.
Financial Planning, Forecasting and Performance Reporting
- Support the annual budget, monthly and quarterly forecasts, and financial planning processes by preparing inputs, consolidating data, validating assumptions, and analyzing key business drivers.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages, including financial performance reviews, variance analysis, KPI reporting, and management presentations.
- Monitor business performance by analyzing income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, cost center, and other controlling-relevant metrics.
- Prepare clear commentary and insights on actual results versus budget, forecast, prior periods, and business expectations.
Month-End Close, Controls and Data Integrity
- Support period-end financial close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, financial reports, and supporting schedules.
- Perform reconciliations and data quality checks to ensure the integrity of financial systems and accuracy of reporting.
- Assist with internal control activities, including process walkthroughs, monitoring control testing, tracking deficiencies, and supporting remediation actions.
- Support updates to finance policies, procedures, and guidelines to promote consistency, compliance, and process discipline.
Business Partnering and Decision Support
- Partner with department leaders and cross-functional teams to support cost center reviews, budget management, sales planning, and performance tracking.
- Respond to business and sales reporting needs by gathering, validating, and interpreting financial information.
- Prepare ad hoc financial analyses, decision support materials, and presentations for management as required.
- Build and improve financial models to support recurring analysis, business planning, and special projects.
Process Improvement, Digitalization and Analytics
- Identify opportunities to streamline, standardize, and automate financial processes, reporting, data collection, and consolidation activities.
- Contribute to finance digitalization initiatives, including improved dashboards, automated variance analysis, forecast driver insights, and commentary generation.
- Leverage tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, Power BI, Tableau, Think-Cell, and other analytics or planning platforms to improve reporting quality and efficiency.
- Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives across Finance and the business.
What will you need to succeed?
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, FP&A, performance controlling, business controlling, or financial analysis.
- CPA designation /or MBA completed or in progress is considered an asset.
- Experience in process improvements using AI and AI-driven analytics is a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of financial planning, forecasting, variance analysis, cost controlling, and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls; IFRS knowledge is considered an asset.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong PowerPoint presentation skills; Think-Cell experience is an asset.
- Experience with SAP, Power BI, Tableau, is considered a strong asset.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify key business insights.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex information clearly for finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Collaborative and proactive mindset, with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Curiosity and continuous improvement mindset, with interest in automation, digital finance, and process optimization.
[Salary is commensurate with experience and is expected to range between $70,000 CAD and $90,000 CAD, excluding bonus and benefits. In addition to base salary, this role includes eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus of up to 10% of base salary, based on company performance metrics.]
