Housed in the Riddell Library and Learning Centre, the University Library is an integral part of the MRU experience. The services, facilities, programming and expertise available in the Library support innovative teaching, learning, and scholarship across campus. The Library includes the Archives and Special Collections, and specialized and technology-enriched teaching and learning spaces, including information literacy classrooms, a Maker Studio, audio production rooms, and a range of visualization, simulation, and immersive spaces.

The Collections Support Analyst provides support for the budget and finance-related processes of the Library’s Collections unit, and for other Library analytics work, including collections assessment. Reporting to the Collections Manager and working closely with the Associate Dean, they interact with systems and databases to produce reports, build dashboards, and compile data to support collections-related decision making and budget management. They work closely with the Faculty Financial Officer (FFO) and other members of the Collections Services team to ensure accurate and efficient processes and workflows relating to acquisitions and purchasing. The position is also responsible for providing public services and support to library users at the Service Desk and online, in response to collections-related technical troubleshooting questions.
This position is full-time (35 hours per week on-campus, working Monday to Friday)
Supports the Collections Manager and Faculty Financial Officer to ensure that financial processes meet budgeting and reporting needs.
Audit invoices and monthly purchase card statements, identifies discrepancies, and collaborates with staff to correct errors before Collections Manager review.
Monitors collections financial accounts and supports the Collections Manager with reconciling department funds and university spending lines.
Manages collections data in Alma and other systems, including the setup and maintenance of SUSHI data import connections, ensuring data availability for assessment.
Builds dashboards, spreadsheets, and reports using various data sources (library systems, vendor usage statistics, institutional financial programs) to support budget tracking, collections development and library reporting needs.
Conducts training and serves as a source of expertise for library staff on collections, COUNTER compliant data, as well as Alma Analytics and other analysis software and assessment resources.
Assists with ordering and receiving library resources.
Utilizes technical expertise to troubleshoot and investigate acquisitions processes and implement new features and technical setups, working with vendors and internal stakeholders as needed.
Helps ensure acquisitions work meets department standards by monitoring day-to-day acquisitions activities, assisting with training, and responding to questions relating to MRU related practices and guidelines.
Provides instruction and assistance to library users on the Service Desk - virtually or in person - in effectively accessing and using library resources, technologies, and equipment (including Makerspace technologies, media and audio production equipment, and library software).
Serves as part of the patron support team, monitoring and responding to reported collections technical issues as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree.
Library education, such as a Library and Information Technology diploma, a Masters in Library and Information Studies, or equivalent, is an asset.
3-5 years of relevant experience.
Experience with budget management and financial reporting processes.
Familiarity with recording of financial information and reconciling statements and invoices.
Some familiarity with COUNTER and SUSHI protocols, and MARC records.
Proficiency in advanced features of Excel or similar statistical analysis software, such as Oracle Analytics (OAS).
Experience with Library Service Platforms (preferably ALMA).
Comprehensive knowledge of library acquisitions standards and tools.
Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
Salary: $55,982 - 70,841 per annum
