Position Summary
MechARM Group is seeking an experienced Commercial & Industrial HVAC Technician / Gas Fitter to install, commission, service, and maintain HVAC and gas-fired equipment in commercial, industrial, retail, and institutional facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ductwork installation, gas piping systems, equipment installation, testing, inspections, and ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install commercial and industrial HVAC systems, including RTUs, MAUs, exhaust systems, heat pumps, furnaces, unit heaters, and related mechanical equipment.
- Fabricate, install, and modify sheet metal ductwork and ventilation systems.
- Install, pressure test, purge, and commission natural gas and propane piping systems.
- Install and connect gas-fired equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and applicable codes.
- Perform smoke tests, balloon tests, pressure tests, and other required system verification procedures.
- Schedule, coordinate, and attend municipal inspections and authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) inspections.
- Liaise directly with inspectors, consultants, engineers, project managers, and clients.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Troubleshoot HVAC, gas, ventilation, and control system issues.
- Complete startup, commissioning, and balancing support activities.
- Maintain detailed service reports, test documentation, and inspection records.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes, fuel gas codes, safety regulations, and MechARM quality standards.
- Coordinate with other trades to ensure project schedules and milestones are met.
- Assist with project planning, material take-offs, and site logistics when required.
Qualifications
- Valid G2 or G1 Gas Technician License (G1 preferred).
- 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic License preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of commercial and industrial HVAC installation experience.
- Proven experience running commercial gas lines and installing gas-fired equipment.
- Experience conducting smoke tests, balloon tests, and gas pressure testing.
- Strong understanding of Ontario Building Code, Fuel Gas Code, and HVAC regulations.
- Ability to independently manage inspections and communicate with municipal authorities.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Pay: $19.12-$65.00 per hour
