Technical Business Analyst – Human Resources

Fleming College is seeking to hire a Technical Business Analyst – Human Resources.

Note: This is a full-time temporary 9-month assignment, October 2018 to June 2019.

What This Position is About:
As the Technical Business Analyst, you are responsible for rolling out new functions and features within the HR system. We use many of the PeopleSoft HR modules (Human Resources, Payroll, Time & Labour, Absence, Recruiting and Learning) and have a long list of features that we would like to take advantage of. You will be an integral member of the technical support team and this requires that you understand the current business process, configure the system to best suit our needs, train the appropriate users and support the system once it is rolled out.

As a key member of the broader HR team, you would provide operational support to that team and will be constantly relied upon to provide accurate data and business analytics for both operational and strategic business needs. You would develop a portfolio of reports to provide to the College’s users or to external parties. You would respond to the request, understand the user’s requirements, develop the report and then deploy it to the requestor. Your day-to-day support may include the troubleshooting of unexpected problems, reacting to government-legislated or collective agreement changes or keeping our system up-to-date with respect to regular maintenance. This could range from diagnosing and solving a problem in 30 minutes or, testing a new PeopleSoft enhancement for several months. You deliver this work in collaboration with the College’s Information Technology teams.

Your acute business acumen helps shape strategic suggestions to ensure that the solutions you provide are well thought out and analyzed from all angles. Your ability to clearly analyze situations and articulate the relevant data considerations are critical in understanding the benefits and risks for the solutions that are being put forward.

What We Are Looking For:
You will be reporting to me, Colin Hughes, Project Manager & Technical Lead, and you will need to operate as both an outstanding collaborative member of various functional teams and as an independent contributor to find and implement creative solutions. You will need to exemplify incredible customer service and gladly assist someone with whatever problem they have. You will need to be an excellent practitioner of change management who is a ble to create and deliver differentiated training materials and techniques which enable users to take full advantage of our HR systems.

You have a 3-year diploma or degree in Computer Science or related field. You have a minimum of five (5) years of recent work experience in any combination of the following:

Functional experience with Enterprise Resource Planning software, such as PeopleSoft.
Advanced knowledge of database reporting tools.
Project management.
Requirements definition and translation into solutions.
Functional testing.
Troubleshooting system problems.
Training and presentations.

In addition, you will possess excellent communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills which allow you to work effectively in a fast-paced, customer-service focused team amid critical deadlines, multiple projects and competing priorities.
