Over the next 30 years our shipbuilders will construct 20+ modern patrol ships and surface combatants for the Royal Canadian Navy as part of Canada's National Shipbuilding Strategy, the largest defence procurement in Canadian history. This year we delivered the second lead Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship, the largest Navy ship built in Canada in 50 years and we're just getting started. The third ship will be delivered in 2022.

Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Training Specialist.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Academically qualified with a recognized university bachelor’s degree or other tertiary qualifications in a discipline of Training or equivalent experience
5 Years or more of adult teaching and/or facilitating experience
Ability to work in a collaborative environment or independently
Ability to plan and prioritize work
Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders with a strong customer service focus
Excellent understanding of delivering training practices
Previous practical experience working with data and reporting
An understanding of Windows based and remote desktops
Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving
Experience in the following fields are considered an asset:
Engineering and/or Project Management on large and complex defense engineering projects
Coordination with a complex organization
Product Lifecycle Management or Windchill experience is desirable.
Strong Technical skills and familiarity with DND/RCN
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Deliver individual and group training covering technical and operational aspects for the Product Lifecycle Management phased implementation
Develop training programs and/or utilize vendor training programs, which meet ISI’s goals and objectives
Create training outlines and determine delivery methods, specific to effectiveness of training methods such as individual training, group instructions, lectures, demonstrations, virtual meetings, and workshops
Select or create training resources, including training user guides/manuals, demonstration models, e-learning, and technical tutorials
Evaluate effectiveness of training and skills development and utilizes relevant evaluation data to revise or recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods
Create training needs analysis and provide advice on training for system change and upgrades
Develop and implement strategies and tools in collaboration with Change Management to enable
