We are seeking a Mechanical Estimator to be based at our Calgary SE office. This is a full-time permanent position to support a variety of projects across Western Canada. The position is based on a 40-hour work week with occasional travel to site, as required to support our site administration teams.
The Mechanical Estimator is responsible for providing detailed estimates based upon conceptual documents as well as schematic, design development and construction documents. Working in a team environment, the mechanical estimator also provides technical and administrative support to project operations with emphasis on mechanical estimating, reporting and monitoring progress, planning, scheduling and dealing with project change.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Prepare mechanical estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for constructions projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications.

Estimate and maintain the mechanical tendering process, set up cost monitoring, reporting systems and procedures.

Coordinate Mechanical price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, engineers, designers and architects.

Participate in mechanical site reviews, tender reviews, tender hand-off meetings, project closing and operational meetings with the project managers as required.

Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.

Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors.

Participate in mechanical material and equipment purchasing for secured jobs as required.

Coordinate various small mechanical projects.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Mechanical Estimator; can demonstrate track record of project estimating in the Alberta commercial and industrial markets.

Completion of a college program in Mechanical Engineering or several years of experience as a qualified tradesperson in the mechanical construction trade.

Previous experience as a supervisor and/or superintendent is an asset.

Intermediate level experience with estimating programs; Accubid experience is essential.

Competency in computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and JDEdwards.

Comprehensive understanding of estimating, forecasting and scheduling in order to provide strategic and fiscal information to clients and management.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to shift priorities and flexibility with working hours.

Occasional travel within Alberta will be required.
