A service-driven paper and packaging products company, Atlantic Packaging has grown to become one of Canada’s largest paper manufacturers and a leading producer of packaging products. Our organization employs approximately 1000 people at eight manufacturing plants and four distribution centers.
We are currently seeking a seasoned finance professional with full cycle accounting and financial analysis expertise. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Divisional Controller will direct financial analysis, budget, cost controls and reporting for a significant business division.
As a key finance team member, the successful candidate will be engaged in meeting growth and profitability objectives by:
Providing strategic and tactical interpretation of key business measurements.
Translating measurements and analyses into sound financial decisions.
Identify and analyze operational and spending variances.
Generates divisional financial reporting including monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
Provide support to other segments including accounting, sales service, and sales.
Direct the efforts of the divisional finance team of accountants by overseeing full FP&A responsibility for the division.
Establish close working relationships with plant management within the division acting as a business partner assisting plant management with analysis and interpretation.
Ensure ongoing collection and analysis of operating performance data as well as industry benchmarking data.
Establish and maintain monitoring mechanisms that will identify plant performance opportunities and provide plant management with meaningful actionable insight.
Develop tools and templates to facilitate the development of effective divisional sales plans and budgets.
Identify deviations from plan and participate in identifying solutions to correct negative performance.
Review and provide oversight of all divisional daily, monthly, annual financial reporting, gross margins as well as related analysis of operational metrics.
Identify and track key indicators to measure and monitor strategic and tactical plans relating to plant and divisional operations.
Participate in identifying and evaluating various business options, quantifying the financial impacts of these approaches and selecting the most favorable course of action to maximize growth and profitability objectives.
Develop detailed analyses necessary to support tactical and strategic decisions covering all aspects of the business as requested and/or appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned by Corporate Controller.
Bachelor Degree in one of these preferred related fields: Accounting, Finance, Business, or Statistics
10 years of relevant business experience in a manufacturing environment
Proven staff management / supervisory experience
Manufacturing ERP solutions, Outlook, MS Office, Excel, Access
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient with various financial and business software
