One of our clients is currently seeking a safety-focused Double Bender Operator to join their growing production team in Amherst, Nova Scotia.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating double bender machinery, preparing production plans, processing reinforcing steel (rebar), and supporting daily plant operations.
Responsibilities
· Operate Double Bender machines and related equipment safely and efficiently.
· Review production orders and delivery slips to accurately sort and process materials.
· Calculate optimal cutting and bending lengths to minimize material waste and maximize productivity.
· Prepare basic sketches, layouts, and production plans to support shop operations.
· Color-code orders to ensure accurate identification and delivery.
· Select and retrieve rebar and structural steel materials from warehouse inventory.
· Feed materials into processing equipment and safely unload finished products.
· Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
· Safely handle, stack, and organize heavy materials weighing up to 45 kg (99 lbs).
· Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
· Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or production delays promptly.
· Assist machine operators and production personnel as required.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
· Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
· Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating a Double Bender machine or similar rebar bending equipment.
· Experience in steel fabrication, rebar manufacturing, or a heavy industrial environment is considered a strong asset.
· Basic computer skills and ability to complete production documentation accurately.
· Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
· Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
· Physically capable of lifting, carrying, and moving materials weighing up to 45 kg (99 lbs).
· Ability to stand, bend, twist, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour
