Home Share is a residential option for adults with developmental disabilities in which the individual shares a home with a care provider who provides ongoing, individualized support. This option provides an ideal balance of support and independence. For some, this is a step towards greater independence, while for others it is a lifelong living arrangement.
Job description
We are currently seeking a female Home Share Provider to welcome a 26-year-old woman with developmental disabilities into her home.
This role offers a meaningful opportunity to provide stability, safety, and supportive guidance for someone who benefits greatly from consistent routines, trauma-informed care, and strong, positive relationships.
The individual is a vulnerable adult who requires support with daily living skills, maintaining wellness routines, attending appointments, community safety awareness, emotional regulation, budgeting, and decision-making skills. She thrives in a calm household where communication is clear, supportive, and structured.
Location:
- Vancouver or Richmond, or Coquitlam or Surrey or Langley
Compensation:
- $30, 000 to $50, 000 annually
Ideal Home Share Provider
We are looking for someone who is:
- Warm, patient, calm, and emotionally mature
- Trauma-informed or willing to learn and practice trauma-informed care
- Able to provide consistent routines and clear communication
- Skilled at modelling healthy boundaries and supportive relationships
- Organized, dependable, and collaborative
- Comfortable supporting mental-health and emotional well-being
- Non-judgmental, nurturing, and respectful
Previous experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or complex needs is considered an asset.
Provider Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming home environment
- Assist with daily routines including meals, hygiene, medication reminders, and scheduling
- Support attendance at medical, mental health, and community appointments
- Help with budgeting, life skills, and household organization
- Support emotional regulation strategies and calming routines
- Collaborate with mental health teams, and support coordination
- Participate in documentation and care plans
Requirements
- 19+ years of age
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Safe, stable, welcoming home environment
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle preferred (not mandatory)
- Willingness to collaborate with the support team
The IFRC will assist contractor applicants through the required Home Sharing application process.
- A home study
