Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant Optometrist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive eye care services, including patient examinations, diagnoses, and treatment plans. This role offers an opportunity to work with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics and senior care, in a collaborative and patient-centered environment. The Consultant Optometrist will utilize advanced electronic health record systems such as Epic and possess strong knowledge of medical terminology to ensure accurate documentation and effective communication. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough eye examinations for patients of all ages, including pediatrics and senior populations
- Diagnose vision problems and ocular diseases, developing appropriate treatment plans
- Prescribe corrective lenses, medications, or referrals as necessary
- Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and available optical products
- Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic to document patient encounters accurately
- Assist with optical sales by recommending suitable eyewear and accessories to enhance patient satisfaction
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in optometry, medical terminology, and industry best practices
Experience
- Proven experience as an optometrist or in a similar clinical setting with a focus on patient care
- Experience working with pediatric and senior patients is preferred
- Familiarity with optical sales techniques and product knowledge is advantageous
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to eye health and ocular conditions
- Prior experience using electronic health records systems such as Epic is a plus
- Strong communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
