About Us
SprintMind Education Center and The Bloommind School provide premium academic programming, offering rigorous Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) credit courses alongside specialized youth enrichment programs. We are currently seeking an experienced, dynamic, and dedicated high school English Teacher to deliver our comprehensive English curriculum from Grades 9 through 12.
The Role
You will be responsible for teaching OSSD English courses across all high school grade levels, encompassing the new de-streamed Grade 9 curriculum, Grade 10 Academic/Applied courses, and senior University (U) and Open (O) levels. The successful candidate must have direct, prior experience teaching these specific Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum codes in either a public or private high school setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, instruct, and evaluate OSSD English courses across multiple levels, including:
- Grade 9 & 10 Foundations: ENL1W (Grade 9 De-streamed), ENG2D (Academic), ENG2P (Applied), and ENG2L (Locally Developed).
- Senior University Pathway: ENG3U (Grade 11), NBE3U (Contemporary First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Voices), ENG4U (Grade 12), ETS4U (Studies in Literature), and EWC4U (The Writer's Craft).
- Senior Open Electives & Literacy: EMS3O (Media Studies), EPS3O (Presentation and Speaking Skills), EBT4O (Business and Technological Communication), and OLC4O (Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course).
- Deliver standard-aligned assessments according to the Ontario Ministry of Education's Growing Success policy.
- Bridge foundational literacy skills in Grades 9 and 10 to the rigorous post-secondary academic expectations in Grades 11 and 12.
- Support students preparing for or fulfilling the OSSLT requirements via the OLC4O curriculum pathway.
- Bonus: Experience mentoring students in competitive academic frameworks (such as public speaking, debate, or writing competitions) is highly valued.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field.
- Mandatory: Proven experience teaching the specific OSSD English course codes listed above within an inspected Ontario private high school or an Ontario public school board.
- In good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) is an asset.
- Deep familiarity with the recent curriculum updates, specifically the transition to ENL1W and the integration of NBE3U, alongside the standard achievement chart categories.
- Exceptional communication and classroom management skills, with a track record of driving student engagement in both foundational and advanced classes.
