Director of Operations
Are you looking for an exciting challenge with an opportunity to live and work in the South Shore of Nova Scotia? White Point Beach Resort is recruiting for a Director of Operations, reporting to the General Manager to develop strategies to maximize revenue and profitability through the leadership team while ensuring exceptional guest services are provided in the day to day operations of the resort. Areas of responsibility for the role include: Events, Front Desk, Guest Services, Recreation, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage (including Kitchen), and Engineering/Maintenance.
The position ensures the operations reflect the White Point mission of ‘Making moments memories’ by prioritizing guest experience and ensuring employee engagement, while focusing on growing revenues and maximizing the financial performance of the organization.
This role will also:
Work with the management team to develop operational strategies.
Demonstrate leadership in financial management and monitor the operation’s sales performance against budget by reviewing daily statistics and operational financial statements.
Champion White Point’s mission and vision for guest experience delivery and ensure alignment amongst departments.
Communicate a clear and consistent message regarding departmental goals to produce desired results.
Demonstrate and communicate key drivers of guest satisfaction for White Point’s target guest. Analyze service issues, identify trends – making and executing the necessary changes to keep property moving toward the achievement of goals.
Provide ongoing analysis of day to day operations and processes to ensure that any opportunities for improvement are implemented.
Lead and support departments to effectively manage occupancy and rate, wages and controllable expenses.
Lead and coach managers to address problem areas.
Stay visible and interact with guests on a regular basis to obtain feedback on quality of product, service levels, overall satisfaction and addresses any potential issues that may arise.
Provide leadership to the department managers to ensure that a consistently exceptional level of guest experience is achieved.
Create an atmosphere in all departments that meets or exceeds guest expectations, through the development of the Management and Supervisory teams.
Foster a commitment to providing excellent service, participate in staff meetings as lead by the department managers and model desired service behaviors in all interactions with guests and employees.
Submit annual operational and business goals in consultation with department managers to GM and evaluate direct reports using performance management guidelines based on those goals.
Portray a professional image, ensuring the team adheres to the same standards that will result in exceeding guest expectations and the organization’s image.
Work closely with departments to ensure that the property’s physical plant and accommodations are maintained to exceed quality standards at all times
If this sounds exciting to you and you possess:
A Degree or Diploma from an accredited university/college program in Business Administration, Hotel / Restaurant Management, or related major
A Minimum of 5 – 7 years’ experience in a senior management role in the hospitality industry with a focus on operations
Strong leadership and motivational skills
Superior interpersonal communication skills which are pivotal to establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships both internally and externally
Passion and enthusiasm
Exceptional written communication skills
Flexibility to meet the ever changing demands of the organization
Current and general computer skills
