Color Ad Packaging is a Winnipeg based leading producer of quality commercial packaging products.
We are currently hiring a Press Assistant.
Work Performed:
- Reviews work requirements and production schedule with Operator
- Talks to assistants from previous / next shift to discuss any issues or challenges they had with material or equipment and how they were handled, as well as the progress of the work relative to the production schedule
- Shares best practices with other assistants
- Checks viscosities and understands ink requirements regarding solvent blend etc.
- Checks schedules with Operator and ensures material, ink, cylinders are available for press ahead of changeover
- Relieves the Operator during breaks, shares with operator issues noticed on a run during absence
- Reviews colour match issues with Operator (progressive learning)
- Works closely with operator to ensure they are providing the support required to complete the tasks for the shift
- Assists with mechanical issues with the press based on directions from the Operator
- Maintains a clean and safe press area at all times including sweeping and washing floors and equipment
- Trains new assistants
- Ensures that safety procedures are strictly adhered to
- Adheres to all requirements of Color Ad’s Food Safety Program. Report any issues noticed to a member of the Food Safety Team.
Education and Experience:
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced production environment
- Minimum Grade 12 education is required
- Mechanical dexterity required
- Completion of a printing program at a vocational/community college is preferred
- Computer proficiency is an asset
- Previous experience in a print environment and operating a printing press is an asset
Physical Capabilities:
- Some heavy lifting is required
- Frequent walking and standing for extended periods of time
- Exposure to moderate noise and odors
- Ability to recognize colour and/or successfully pass a colour test
Successful candidates must be available to work rotating continental shifts.
