Our client is a well-established, privately held manufacturer based in Surrey, BC, recognized for its innovative manufacturing capabilities and commitment to quality. The company produces a diverse range of plastic products serving industries including medical devices, agriculture, electronics, consumer goods, and commercial packaging.
We are seeking an experienced Injection Mold Maker to join a small, collaborative Tool Room team. This position will be responsible for the modification, maintenance, repair, and construction of injection molds, as well as the manufacture of custom auxiliary equipment, jigs, fixtures, and gauges used to support production and quality requirements.
Working closely with Technicians and the broader Operations team, you will troubleshoot tooling and injection molding issues, recommend improvements and modifications, and help ensure molds consistently operate at optimal performance while meeting customer specifications. Key Responsibilities:
- Modify, repair, rebuild, and maintain injection molds to meet customer specifications and production requirements.
- Manufacture new tooling, mold components, and precision parts in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Design and fabricate custom jigs, fixtures, gauges, and auxiliary equipment to support production, assembly, and quality control.
- Complete routine mold cleaning, inspection, maintenance, and preventative maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with Molding Technicians to diagnose and resolve tooling and injection molding process issues.
- Identify opportunities for tooling improvements, modifications, and upgrades to improve mold performance, reliability, and production efficiency.
- Provide hands-on tooling support to the Operations team to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted production.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and related documentation to ensure accurate manufacturing and modifications.
- Program and operate CNC machining equipment using Mastercam to produce precision tooling and components.
- Operate EDM equipment to manufacture, repair, and modify precision mold and tooling components.
- Work collaboratively with team members across the organization to troubleshoot technical issues and address production requirements.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, accuracy, safety, and quality throughout all tooling activities.
- Follow established quality management systems and procedures, including ISO 9000 and ISO 13485 standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in tool making, mold making, machining, or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in Mastercam programming and machining — required.
- Hands-on experience operating EDM equipment — required.
- Strong knowledge of injection molds, tooling, machining, and general manufacturing processes.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively within a collaborative team.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and respond appropriately to urgent production requirements.
- Willingness to learn and follow established quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures.
- Day Shift hours Mon-Fri
Compensation & Benefits:
- 39 – 45$/hr (Overtime Eligible)
