George Weston Limited’s (GWL) Risk Advisory group is focused on delivering innovative and effective Compliance, Assurance, Consulting and Enterprise Risk Management solutions designed to support George Weston Limited Corporate Centre, Weston Foods & Choice Properties.
GWL’s Risk Advisory group’s missions is to be a strategic partner, solution oriented and value-added change agent supporting management in achieving their business priorities while facilitating the identification, mitigation, monitoring and reporting of risks and compliance matters appropriately in an ever-evolving business environment.
The Senior Manager, Compliance will lead the enterprise-wide development and execution of the Compliance framework, working towards delivering world-class solutions to the organization. The Senior Manager, Compliance will lead and facilitate compliance programs for GWL Corporate Centre and provide oversight over compliance functions across Weston Foods and Choice Properties.
GWL is looking for an individual with entrepreneurial and business-oriented mindset , who is self-driven and possesses the right executive presence and interpersonal skills to proactively engage with stakeholders, senior leadership and the Board in risk and compliance discussions.
Lead the compliance framework and develop the corporate compliance program to evolve the execution and maturity of the compliance program
Lead compliance activities within GWL ensuring that programs are in place to identify, monitor, report and and correct non-compliance with laws, regulations and Company policies
Collaborate with business teams and senior leadership to lead compliance workshops and meetings, maintain policy governance, build and maintain regulatory inventory and report on compliance matters to senior leadership and the Board
Lead communications relating to compliance across the organization including providing training and education to business teams
Develop and lead the incidence management and response program, in collaboration with the Risk Advisory group and compliance teams at Choice Properties and Weston Foods
Collaborate with the Risk Advisory group and the business teams to establish and lead the Fraud Risk Management program, including risk assessment, control validation and reporting of results
Monitor developments and emerging regulatory compliance risks to ensure necessary changes are reflected in the day to day operations of the associated compliance programs
Work cross-functionally to consolidate compliance training and awareness strategies, implementation plans and initiatives, both internally and externally and develop effective and continuously improving engagement and adherence methods
Develop annual evaluation plans and oversee operating effectiveness testing of the compliance programs across the group of companies
Champion client specific initiatives to enhance the quality and value of our service delivery including benchmarking, internal / external research, industry events, thought leadership, relationship building, training & competency development
Undergraduate degree in business or other related discipline including Juris Doctor, (J.D)., Bachelor of Laws (LL.B), Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, or equivalent and/or other regulatory compliance certifications preferred
5+ years of experience in compliance ideally with complex, large-scale enterprises across multiple regulatory areas
2+ years in a management/ supervisory capacity effectively developing and leading teams with a hands-on approach
Solid experience in designing, implementing, evaluating and maintaining compliance programs
Superior communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and present to stakeholders at all levels
Proven report writing and presentation skills with attention to detail
Passion and exceptional desire to make an impact on the business and community
Proven problem-solver, with an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset
Self-starter with a strong work ethic and ‘no-excuses’ mentality
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
