As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Senior DDC Technician to join our team and play a key role in project delivery, system design, programming, commissioning and customer support.
About the Role
The Senior DDC Technician will be responsible for designing, programming, integrating, troubleshooting, and commissioning Building Automation Systems for a variety of HVAC and mechanical systems.
This is a senior-level technical position requiring strong hands-on experience with HVAC controls, networking, system integration and field commissioning. The ideal candidate is self-sufficient, organized, technically capable, and comfortable working directly with customers, consultants, mechanical contractors, and internal project teams.
This role offers the opportunity to help shape the technical direction of a growing company while working on a wide range of challenging and rewarding projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop Building Automation System architectures and control strategies
- Program and commission DDC systems for a wide range of HVAC equipment
- Create and modify control drawings, network diagrams, sequences of operation, graphics and user interfaces, points lists and commissioning documentation
- Integrate third-party systems using BACnet, Modbus, and other communication protocols
- Perform on-site commissioning, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and system optimization
- Coordinate with project managers, electricians, mechanical contractors, consultants and owners
- Provide training and technical support to end users and building operators
- Assist with project turnover and closeout documentation
- Support service calls and ongoing customer support as required
- Mentor junior technicians and contribute to technical standards and best practices
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience in Building Automation Systems / DDC controls
- Strong experience designing, programming, and commissioning BAS systems
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical equipment operation
- Experience with BACnet/IP networking and system integration
- Ability to read and interpret Mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, control diagrams and sequences of operation
- Experience troubleshooting field devices, controllers, sensors and communication networks
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects/tasks
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
Preferred Assets
- Experience with Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO)
- Experience with Niagara Framework, Distech, Reliable Controls, or other major BAS platforms
- Experience configuring routers, switches and IP networks
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technologist diploma, Red Seal Electrical certification or related technical education
- Experience working with Studio360
- Knowledge of energy management and system optimization strategies
