We are seeking a motivated Lab Technician to become an integral part of our Hardware Engineering and Product Development team.

Responsibility

Collaborate with a cross functional team of hardware engineers to assist with day-to-day development needs

Build prototypes using hand tools, operate CNC router and 3d printer

Responsible for small volume in house production run - cable assemblies, box builds

Manage shipping and receiving; keep record of shipping logs

Track and manage inventory and lab supplies

Splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber

Qualifications

Extremely attentive to details

Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination

Highly hands-on. Ability to work with small components via magnifier - solder SMT components and work with fiber optics

Experienced with machine shop tools - drill press, vise clamp, band saw, hand drill

Experienced with rapid prototyping techniques

Familiarity with electronic diagnostic equipment such as digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, frequency generators, etc.

Able to read schematic, PCB layouts and mechanical drawings

Requirements

Minimum: Relevant Post Secondary Diploma/Degree in technology discipline

Minimum 2+ years of professional experience in relevant field
Be comfortable working independently

Be highly organized, motivated and focused with positive attitude.

Be capable of working independently and work well in a team.

Be able to communicate fluently in English (written and oral)

Must have a valid driver license and a clean driving record

Basic computer skills (email, excel & word) and understanding of common consumer electronic devices

Bonus points:
Wood working experience

Proficient in fibre cable termination with connectors (SC, FC, LC, APC/UPC)
Experienced with running, pulling, terminating, and splicing copper and fiber optic cables

Experienced with fiber optic fusion splicing machine

Knowledge of optics, photonics, and opto-electronics

Familiarity with RMA process

Knowledge of PCB design, DFM, schematic capture

Systematic hardware troubleshooting and debugging experience required
