Under the Guidance of a team (Classroom teacher, Speech Language Pathologist, Specialty Teachers, Special Education Teacher and school faculty) this job will involve working directly with a neurodiverse student in Grade 6 to meet his learning objectives. The student is diagnosed with a severe expressive language delay (severe apraxia) and a mild to moderate developmental delay. He is kind, caring, very helpful, thoughtful of others and a desire to be successful and included. Thrives in a caring environment with predictable rhythm and routine. Performs best with a loving yet firm and consistent approach when learning and trying new things. He cares for his classmates and they care for him. He is mostly independent and is working at a Kindergarten level academically. Requires a modified curriculum, learning tools (e.g., number lines, alphabet strip) and encouragement.
