About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for an elderly woman living with her daughter in Kinburn, Ontario. She uses a walker for mobility and is experiencing increasing confusion and memory challenges. She typically wakes between 7-9 AM and benefits from a consistent routine with familiar faces. The family has a large dog who is generally gentle and will be kept in a separate area during visits. The household maintains a care log to track daily activities and the client's well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Provide bathing assistance and personal care support
- Help with morning routine and ensure daily tasks are completed
- Prepare or reheat simple meals for lunch, following notes left by family
- Provide medication reminders and assistance with medication management
- Offer supervision for safety due to cognitive changes
- Engage in companionship and activities during visits
- Document care activities and observations in the family's log book
- Light assistance with mobility using walker as needed
What We're Looking For:
- Someone who makes the client feel comfortable and at ease
- Calm, patient demeanor with experience supporting seniors with cognitive changes
- Reliable and consistent - able to commit to the same weekly schedule
- Takes initiative and communicates clearly with family
- Comfortable working in a home with a large dog
- English speaking
- Experience with personal care, bathing assistance, and mobility support
Schedule:
One day per week (Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday) for 3-hour visits, arriving between 10:00-11:00 AM. The family is seeking consistent care with the same caregiver each week to help their mom build familiarity and trust. This is a 3-month commitment with potential to extend.
The family previously had a wonderful private caregiver who moved away, and they're hoping to find someone equally dedicated who can provide the stability and personal connection their mom needs during this time.
