The opportunity
The Director, Real Estate Operations is responsible for leading all aspects of the strategic direction of the Office Production Services, Facilities and Hospitality teams. You will be responsible for the oversight of the global real estate operations including financial management, property management across multiple offices, and contract negotiations. This role is also responsible for relationship management with internal stakeholders and many service providers.
Who you'll work with
As the Director, Real Estate Operations, you will collaborate with internal departments and global leadership to ensure efficiency of all Real Estate Operations as well as interact with external vendors.
What you'll do
Lead all aspects of the operations, handling sophisticated issues referred by operational management or staff such as contractual disputes or multi faceted issues impacting customer effectiveness, comfort and wellbeing
Hire, manage and develop staff, directly and indirectly lead a team of up to 16 management and staff including making recommendations regarding effective team structure, supervising recruitment of staff to fill vacancies and conducting performance evaluations, career development and mentoring
Set clear consistent standards for office expenses, supervise and approve the office budget preparation and expenses for all global offices
Ensure policies and procedures are established and maintained to industry leading standards.
Lead all aspects of projects impacting Real Estate Operations including playing a central role in some organization wide projects such as Return to Office and the move to 160 Front St
Set the strategic direction on how the group should operate or improve, including ensuring standards for customer experience are consistent across all offices
Promote an environment where initiatives to improve internal processes can thrive
Establish and navigate sophisticated relationships with key internal partners and external vendors
Collaborate with internal department and global leadership to ensure efficiency of all Real Estate Operations
Lead sophisticated dialogue and negotiation with vendors where service needs improvement including the sourcing and building of new relationships.
Accountable for ensuring the operational implications of projects/initiatives are appropriately addressed and completed in accordance with established timelines.
Agree and supervise key performance indicators which promote accountability, efficiency and accuracy of service delivery
Provide leadership and to the team with overall accountability for all three teams
Recruit, engage, develop and retain a highly skilled team of strong operations management
Performance manage direct reports and provide input to evaluate members of the teams to ensure they have the appropriate skills and capabilities to succeed in their responsibilities
Initiate and develop good working relationships with all key partners
Drive efficiency in execution across the full range of real estate operations’ services
Be a trusted resource to senior leadership to support the real estate footprint and strategy of the organization
Stay current on the strategic direction of Teachers’ to identify how best to align resources to support their strategies
What you'll need
Relevant university degree
Excellent understanding of the real estate sector
Professional designations desirable CPA (CA), CFA or MBA
Technically conversant with a wide range of real estate service offerings and products
Extensive knowledge of real estate, financial cost management, negotiation skills, strategy development and operations process improvement
12-15 years of related professional experience in Real Estate Operations
Experience leading and managing large teams of people
Successful track record for project planning and management influencing across different departments
Demonstrated experience leading and implementing change across operational groups.
