ISM Industrial Steel & Manufacturing Inc. is hiring 1 Technician in the afternoon shift for our busy steel construction company. We are located in the Tilbury area of Delta, BC. Afternoon Shift: Monday to Thursday - 3:30PM to 1:30AM
Reports to: Shop Lead hand, Shop Supervisor, Shop Manager
Responsibilities
- Perform a daily inspection of the equipment and tools you are using.
- Rig, hoist and move materials with a crane.
- Run TCP tests before the start of operation or when changing consumables.
- Load program, operate and monitor machine while processing material.
- Follow quality control measures.
- Examine final products for quality assurance – every 10th piece that is over 25 ft out.
- Work with Yard worker to feed machine with appropriate product.
- Label finished material with job number / phase with waxed marker.
- Marking – green marker for day shift and orange marker for afternoon shift.
- Keep stock on hand up to date.
- Maintain supply of gasses and consumables and notify Shop Supervisor or Manager when levels are low.
- Grease and perform preventative maintenance.
- Troubleshoot equipment.
- Co-ordinate with Shop manager when problems arise and communicate with Voortman employees when advised by Shop Manager.
- Look for improvement in cutting quality and efficiency and communicate with Shop Manager for running test approval.
- Clean tools, equipment and work areas.
- Cooperate with joint health and safety committees, worker health and safety representatives, WorkSafe BC prevention officers, and anybody with health and safety duties.
Qualifications
- Must be able to read and speak English.
- Must be able to read drawings.
- Ability to solve problems independently
- Excellent attention to detail
- Basic hand and power tool knowledge required.
- Knowledge of inspection tools and techniques.
- Safe and practical handling of all rigging, equipment and steel including inspection of equipment, chains, slings and other related rigging.
- Must be physically able to lift items up to 50lbs.
- Be able to be on their feet for a large part of the day.
Job Type: Permanent
Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour
