Job Summary
Sabre is expanding its E&I Field Services Division to support growing commercial and industrial electrical construction opportunities across Alberta and Western Canada. The Senior Estimator plays a lead role in preparing competitive estimates, developing proposals, and supporting pre-construction activities that position Sabre for successful project execution.
The incumbent operates in a project-driven environment where estimating accuracy directly impacts project success, profitability, and client satisfaction. Working closely with Project Management, Field Operations, Business Development, and Division Leadership, the Senior Estimator helps identify opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and support the continued growth of Sabre's field electrical services business.
Responsibilities
- Lead estimating activities for commercial and industrial electrical construction projects, including budgets, estimates, proposals, and bid submissions
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to develop accurate and competitive pricing strategies
- Perform material takeoffs, labour calculations, subcontractor evaluations, and equipment pricing
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, engineering firms, consultants, developers, and key customers
- Participate in pre-construction planning, budgeting exercises, and design-build opportunities
- Support value engineering initiatives and constructability reviews
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations to develop practical execution plans and labour strategies
- Identify upcoming project opportunities and support strategic business development initiatives
- Maintain estimating databases, labour units, vendor pricing, and historical cost information
- Monitor market trends, labour conditions, and material pricing to improve estimating accuracy
- Support continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and workflows
- Ensure estimating practices align with Sabre's quality, safety, and operational standards
Qualifications
- Journeyperson Electrician designation or equivalent electrical construction experience required
- Minimum five years of commercial and/or industrial electrical construction experience
- Proven experience estimating commercial or industrial electrical construction projects
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid, ConEst, Bluebeam, or equivalent
- Strong understanding of field-installed electrical systems, construction methods, and project execution
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
- Experience estimating projects ranging from approximately $100,000 to $10 million or greater is considered an asset
- Existing relationships with general contractors, engineering firms, consultants, and industrial clients are highly desirable
- Professional designations such as Gold Seal, PMP, CET, or equivalent are considered an asset
