A service-driven paper and packaging products company, Atlantic Packaging has grown to become one of Canada’s largest paper manufacturers and a leading producer of packaging products. Our organization employs approximately 1000 people at eight manufacturing plants and four distribution centers.
We are looking for a Credit Analyst for our Corporate office in Scarborough. Responsible for the day-to-day credit functions for a portfolio of customers including managing credit limits and payment terms, timely credit and order release decisions, performing collections, reconciliations, and resolution of customer deductions in a manner that satisfied customers’ needs and meets company DSO and bad debt objectives.
Perform credit checks on new and existing accounts as required and assigning and/or recommending credit limits.
Perform daily accounts receivable functions for a portfolio of customers including managing credit limits, ADP vs payment terms, performing collections, and account reconciliations.
Follow-up on all overdue accounts and other credit risk situations and make recommendations for third party involvement when necessary.
Approve and release customer orders, ensuring customers are within terms and credit limit, and contact customers to reach satisfactory resolution prior to releasing orders.
Record collection activity and other pertinent activity in the AR system.
Resolve all deductions from customer remittances including claims, debits, and short payments.
Respond to inquiries from internal and external clients and provide a consistent level of customer service.
Liaise with various internal departments to ensure disputes and debit claims are cleared promptly.
Monitor alerts/releases from credit agencies and take appropriate action.
Communicate customers’ status to management and sales
Provide reports as required
Performs other duties as required
Post-secondary diploma in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
CCP accreditation through Credit Institute of Canada is a strong asset.
5 years of experience working in credit and/or accounts receivable.
Strong working experience with Microsoft Office
Previous experience with account reconciliation required.
Ability to interact with employees and customers in a courteous and professional manner.
Able to work independently with limited supervision.
Able to work in a fast paced, busy department.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Exceptional written, listening, and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem solving and negotiation skills.
