Maintenance Supervisor – Confidential Opportunity Greater Toronto Area
Pay: $105,000–$110,000 per year
A growing automotive manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead and coordinate daily maintenance activities within a fast-paced automotive stamping and welding environment.
Reporting to the Maintenance / Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will provide hands-on leadership to the Maintenance team and help ensure stamping presses, welding equipment, robotic systems, machinery and facility systems operate safely, efficiently and reliably.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Leadership
Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance activities, priorities and follow-up.
Provide direction and support to Maintenance Lead Hands, maintenance associates and Weld Technicians.
Monitor work completion and maintenance performance on the production floor.
Support training, coaching and development of maintenance personnel.
Promote a positive, respectful and team-oriented work environment.
Coordinate maintenance coverage to support production requirements.
Equipment Reliability & Preventive Maintenance
Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Monitor equipment performance and respond to breakdowns and downtime concerns.
Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities.
Support equipment reliability and uptime initiatives.
Support hydraulic and mechanical stamping presses, welding equipment, PLC-controlled equipment, automated production systems and robotics.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure maintenance activities comply with company safety standards and applicable legislation.
Ensure lockout/tagout procedures and safe maintenance practices are followed.
Support internal and external audits, including IATF requirements.
Contractors & Continuous Improvement
Coordinate contractors and outside service providers.
Support equipment installations, repairs and improvement projects.
Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality and other departments.
Reporting & Administration
Maintain maintenance records, work orders and downtime tracking.
Monitor spare parts requirements and contractor activities.
Support maintenance cost control and department reporting.
Escalate significant equipment, safety and operational concerns to the Maintenance / Engineering Manager.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
Valid Ontario Industrial Millwright Mechanic (433A) or Industrial Electrician (442A) Certificate of Qualification is strongly preferred.
Candidates with equivalent technical training and extensive hands-on automotive maintenance experience will also be considered.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience required.
Automotive stamping and welding experience strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Experience with stamping presses, welding equipment, PLC troubleshooting, automation and robotic systems preferred.
Experience with preventive maintenance systems and downtime reduction initiatives.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to coach employees and build a positive, team-focused work environment.
Familiarity with IATF requirements is an asset.
