*Overview*
We are seeking a skilled Family Lawyer with at least 1-2 years of experience to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for family law and a strong commitment to advocating for clients in various family-related legal matters. Conversational skills in Portuguese is an asset.
*Responsibilities*
- Provide legal representation and advice to clients in family law cases including domestic violence cases
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients
- Conduct legal research
- Draft legal documents including applications, answers, affidavits, and agreements
- Represent clients in court proceedings in the OCJ and SCJ, in mediations and arbitrations
- Flexibility for a hybrid work experience (home and office), although a full-time office experience can be provided
*Requirements*
- 1-2 years of experience in family law
- Be able to work autonomously while also having full-time mentorship from senior counsel
- Strong negotiation skills
- Exceptional client management skills
- Proficiency in legal drafting and writing
- ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment
- have the ability to travel to various courts in the GTA
