Under close supervision, the successful candidate will perform techniques and procedures standard in biological/biochemical laboratory research on the molecular mechanisms underlying inter and intracellular signalling.. Duties include maintenance of supplies and equipment; research involving molecular biological techniques, general lab support and basic animal husbandry.
Your responsibilities will include:
Applying established standards when preparing routine samples for research projects and/or experiments
Applying established standards when determining material requirements for lab set up based on timetables and requisitions information
Applying established standards when providing animal care
Collaborating with staff and course instructors to determine lab set up requirements
Informing appropriate contacts when laboratory equipment needs to be repaired or replaced
Troubleshooting issues with lab equipment and/or workstations
Preparing, assembling and setting-up material, equipment and supplies according to the needs of the facility
Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Cell Biology or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
Minimum two years laboratory environments conducting in vivo and in vitro experiments
Experience preparing routine samples for research projects and/or experiments
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting laboratory equipment and resolving issues
Demonstrated experience preparing laboratory experiments
Experience with animal husbandry (including tissue sampling and genotyping of litters, setting up of crosses, organizing cages)
Experience in molecular biology (qPCR, western blotting, ELISA and etc.) and tissue culture
Experience with anti-body purification: cell growth, transfection, protein expression, harvest and purification
Experience providing detailed explanations to graduate students and Post-Docs in a laboratory environment
Experience with organoid culture
Must be familiar with safety and hazard protocols in a research laboratory
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
Experience with immunostaining, confocal imaging and TIRF (Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence) microscopy
