Pair It With Speech Services is a growing multidisciplinary pediatric speech and language clinic dedicated to helping children reach their full potential through compassionate, evidence-based, family-centred care.
We are seeking an experienced, creative, and engaging Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to join our team as a Social Skills Facilitator. This contract position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about fostering children's communication, confidence, and peer relationships through structured, play-based social skills programming.
Working collaboratively with our Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), Communicative Disorders Assistants (CDAs), and other clinicians, you will independently design and facilitate evidence-informed social skills groups for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, social communication differences, and other developmental needs. Programming should align with therapeutic goals while creating meaningful opportunities for children to build friendships, develop communication skills, and practice social thinking in a supportive environment.
The ideal candidate is a confident, self-directed professional with experience developing social skills curriculum and leading group programming with minimal supervision. You are organized, proactive, and passionate about creating engaging learning experiences that make a lasting impact on children and their families.
Position Details
- Contract position
- Flexible scheduling based on client enrollment and appointments
- Evening and weekend availability preferred
- Small groups of 2–6 children per session
- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary clinical team
- Clinical consultation and support provided by Speech-Language Pathologists where appropriate
Responsibilities
- Independently design, develop, and implement evidence-informed social skills curriculum and lesson plans for preschool and school-aged children.
- Plan and facilitate engaging, structured social skills groups using play-based, child-centred, and developmentally appropriate teaching strategies.
- Develop creative activities, games, role-playing scenarios, crafts, and group projects that support communication, collaboration, and confidence.
- Teach and reinforce social communication skills including:
- Conversation and reciprocal communication
- Making and maintaining friendships

- Cooperation and teamwork
- Conflict resolution

- Executive functioning and social thinking
- Adapt activities to meet each child's communication, developmental, sensory, and behavioural needs.
- Foster positive peer interactions while creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive group environment.
- Collaborate with Speech-Language Pathologists, Communicative Disorders Assistants, and other clinicians to reinforce individualized speech, language, and social communication goals.
- Observe participant progress and maintain accurate session notes, attendance records, and documentation.
- Communicate professionally with families regarding children's participation and progress.
- Maintain organized program materials and contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of clinic programming.
- Demonstrate initiative, professionalism, and sound judgment while independently managing program responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience working with young children in educational, therapeutic, or developmental settings.
- Demonstrated experience designing curriculum, lesson plans, or programming that supports social-emotional learning and social skills development.
- Experience facilitating small-group programs for children.
- Strong knowledge of child development, play-based learning, and behaviour management strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational, planning, and classroom management abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, developmental disabilities, speech and language disorders, or social communication challenges.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary clinic or therapeutic setting.
- Familiarity with evidence-based social skills interventions and social thinking programs.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French is considered an asset.
Requirements
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Professional Liability Insurance (required for independent contractors).
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
