Responsibilities:
The maintenance helper ensures reliable operation of all machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance measures on production machines using diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, and manufacturer’s instructions. This role performs general preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, equipment, and grounds utilizing several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, heating and cooling.

Follow all plant safety guidelines, practices, and procedures. Ensure awareness of activity in the work surroundings and maintain a clean and safe work area.

Utilize maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.

Perform maintenance and repair of facility fixtures, machinery, and equipment.

Perform carpentry, furniture assembly, and locksmith tasks as needed.

Plan, organize, coordinate, and/or complete services such as signage, cleaning, maintenance, parking lot, safety inspections, security, landscaping, and snow removal.

Assist the production team as required (Operating Drills, saws or assembly work, etc).

Lock out all equipment prior to performing required maintenance tasks and setup.

Follow all Health and Safety procedures including but not limited to wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment, receiving training prior to operating equipment, and reporting any defects immediately.

Ensure equipment is properly guarded and all safety features are in place appropriately. Report when others are not using the safety features of equipment appropriately.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.

2 years of experience within a similar role within a manufacturing environment.

5 years of experience working within a related role within a manufacturing environment.

Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to follow all Health and Safety requirements and wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Ability to recognize and avoid all Health and Safety risks.

Ability to effectively build relationships with customers and co-workers.

Ability to work under pressure with time constraints.
