Overview:
As the Mechanical Designer you will be responsible for designing, testing, manufacturing, and deployment of the Jule Hub and Jule Charger. This role will report into the Mechanical Engineer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES::
- Assist the design of components and layout of our BESS system.
- Assist in drafting the drawing of the components for machining and manufacturing.
- Pick the appropriate materials and components from supplier catalogues.
- Assist in drafting layout drawings for components and cables.
- Check mechanical drawings, determine the level of accuracy and its effect on tooling and machining.
- Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Creating prototypes, testing them, and analyzing the results.
- Analyzing problems that may arise during the manufacturing process and recommending solutions.
- Collaborate with other Engineering teams, designers, and project managers.
- Maintain detailed documentation on designs and operational procedures.
- Creating design specifications in accordance with company regulations, applicable code, and client standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
- You are enrolled in your third year of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering program.
- Previous co-op experience preferred.
- You must be proficient in using SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD software such as NI-Unigraphics).
- You have relevant design, build & validation experiences through previous internships or coursework.
- You are proficient with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.).
- You are a team player who likes to overcome engineering challenges with others and is open to feedback.
- You can think out of the box to make a design that can accommodate the production, installation, and maintenance in future.
- You are not afraid to get your hands dirty. You will not only design things at your desk but also get involved in the testing lab, manufacturing plant, and potential site visit.
- You must be legally entitled to work in Canada (a copy of a valid work permit will be required for international students).
- You have knowledge of industry design principles.
Preferred::
- You are currently in Solid Mechanics & Design Stream
- You have previous drafting experience with mechanical drawings
- You have previous experience in working in a manufacturing plant
- You have received machine shop training
- A valid Ontario “G” Class Driver’s License with no demerit points
