Position Overview
Stevens is seeking a highly communicative, deeply operational Director of IST to lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of enterprise technology capabilities supporting a fast-moving, complex business environment. This leader will own the vision, roadmap, operating model, and execution discipline across enterprise platforms, business systems, data and reporting, digital tools, end-user support, and technology governance.
This role requires a builder who can operate at multiple levels, from long-term architecture and organizational design to near-term issue resolution and delivery management. The ideal candidate combines strong business judgment, systems thinking, and technical fluency with a bias for action and a relentless focus on customer experience, scalability, simplification, and measurable business impact.
The Director of IS&T will partner closely with Finance, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and senior leadership teams to ensure enterprise systems and technology investments improve speed, visibility, control, productivity, and growth. This individual will lead both people and platforms, balancing strategic transformation with strong day-to-day execution.
Role reports To: CFO, VP of Finance
Base Salary: From $1,80,000 CAD (depending on experience)
Key Responsibilities
Strategy, architecture and operating model
- Own the enterprise technology strategy, roadmap, and operating model across core business systems and platforms
- Translate business priorities into scalable technology solutions that improve speed, control, and productivity
- Reduce execution friction by simplifying workflows, clarifying ownership, and strengthening cross-functional operating rhythms
Enterprise systems, data, and digital platforms
- Lead the execution and stabilization of enterprise applications, including ERP, reporting, integrations, digital platforms, and workplace technology
- Improve the reliability, usability, and adoption of key enterprise platforms and reporting environments
- Drive data integrity, reporting quality, and decision-support capability across the organization
Delivery, governance, and transformation
- Establish strong delivery governance, prioritization discipline, and portfolio management across competing business initiatives
- Ensure enterprise technology supports M&A integration, new business launches, and future scaling requirements
- Develop mechanisms to monitor platform health, delivery performance, user support responsiveness, and business value realization
Team leadership, vendors, and controls
- Build and lead a high-performing technology organization with clear accountability across delivery, systems, data, infrastructure, and support
- Oversee vendor strategy, third-party relationships, implementation partners, and external support providers
- Set and manage budgets, resource plans, performance metrics, and service expectations for the technology function
- Champion security, access discipline, governance, and sound change management practices across the technology landscape
Knowledge and skill requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in enterprise technology, business systems, or IT operations
- 5+ years leading managers and cross-functional technology teams
- Experience owning enterprise systems strategy and execution in a multi-site or complex operating environment
- Experience with ERP platforms, business applications, reporting environments, and third-party vendor ecosystems
- Strong program management and delivery governance experience
- Demonstrated ability to partner with senior business leaders and translate business priorities into technology roadmaps
- Experience managing budgets, resource planning, and external providers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical capability and comfort using data to drive prioritization and decisions
Preferred qualifications
- Experience leading enterprise technology in distribution, logistics, healthcare, manufacturing, or other operationally intensive environments
- Experience with ERP stabilization, digital transformation, and post-acquisition integration
- Experience building or reshaping a technology function into a more product- and platform-oriented model
- Strong knowledge of data and BI environments, integrations, and digital customer-facing platforms
- Experience improving service delivery, platform adoption, and team productivity through better mechanisms and operating discipline
- MBA or relevant advanced degree
- Track record of building strong leaders and durable teams in fast-paced environments
