Overview
This position is responsible for providing social work services to hospital patients and families who are in crisis. This individual will provide services either in the emergency room, the inpatient mental health unit or through outpatient clinics specia lizing in short-term, crisis treatment and cognitive-behavioural therapy. They will be providing excellent patient care within an interdisciplinary team setting. Responsibilities include: comprehensive assessment and treatment planning, crisis interventi on, cognitive-behavioural therapy, solution focused therapy, case coordination, educational and supportive counseling, resource identification, referral and linking, and collaborating and consulting with inter-professional team and community based servic e providers.

Education
  • Member of the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers or a candidate for certification
  • Master of Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work or equivalent degree as recognized by the Ontario College of Social Workers & So cial Service Workers
  • Recent relevant experience in Crisis Intervention (both in the emergency service and outpatient setting), and cognitive-behavioural therapy required, i.e. certification in CBT and/or DBT from an accredited organization.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Mental Health Service required
  • Minimum of 3 years in a Mental Health Inpatient setting or Mental Health Crisis Service required.
  • Demonstrated excellence in assessments of a wide range of psychiatric disorders req uired
  • Experience in short term psychotherapy/crisis counseling required.
  • Experience working with psychiatrically disabled individuals who have experienced, both chronic and acute, and ongoing mental health concerns
  • Demonstrated excellence in pr oblem solving techniques, conflict resolution skills, flexibility and cooperative relations with an interdisciplinary team and with the public
  • Experience in developing community linkages and liaisons; demonstrated knowledge of community resources
  • E vidence of flexibility, and good interpersonal and organizational skills in an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated excellence in the integration of holistic concepts when assessing, interviewing and evaluating client management
  • Demonstrated knowled ge of Mental Health Act, Mental Health Reform and consumer/survivor issues.
  • Computer literacy; good work and attendance record required
  • A demonstrated willingness to work in all areas of the health service (skills & abilities considered).
